About the Author

Meet Shardae Webb, a modern-day multitasker who wears numerous hats just like many millennial moms. She's a devoted mother to two daughters. By day, she works a 9-5 job and manages properties, all while passionately advocating for childhood literacy and healthy eating.

In 2019, Shardae founded Muva Munch, a company focused on homemade baby food education, after receiving numerous inquiries from colleagues about her homemade baby food recipes. Recognizing a lack of knowledge within the African American community on this subject, she embarked on a mission to educate and empower, offering step-by-step recipe guides for those eager to learn. While Muva Munch is no longer in operation, it inspired her to continue encouraging healthy eating for children as her own children grew older.

Formerly known as Shay Webb, Shardae reclaimed her birth name in 2022, realizing the significance of one's given name, particularly within the African American culture. This pivotal moment inspired her to share her newfound confidence with children, emphasizing the importance of embracing one's identity from a young age.

Driven by her passions for early childhood nutrition education and instilling self-assurance in children, Shardae combined these interests to create her debut children's book, "I See Me in the ABCs: Exploring the World of Fruits and Veggies Through the Alphabet."

"I See Me in the ABCs" is not only a vibrant journey through the alphabet but also a celebration of diversity, featuring colorful illustrations and characters reflective of African American culture. Praised by parents, caregivers, educators, and health professionals alike, Shardae's book stands out for its unique blend of education and representation using fruit and vegetable characters.

Shardae expanded her impact by participating in numerous author visits, literacy nights, and book school author visits and literacy festivals. She also organized a Read-a-Thon initiative to encourage young readers and promote literacy, providing engaging activities and incentives to foster a love for reading. Her efforts were recognized in various media outlets such as the East Clevelander Magazine in 2023 , The Land Cle Magazine , Cleveland Magazine and programs, highlighting her dedication to childhood literacy and healthy eating advocacy.

Shardae was nominated for Author of the Year, a testament to her dedication to children's literacy and representation in literature. She also participated in public events, including Freedom Fest with Cleveland Public Library, the Black Women in Retail EXPO, and the My Spectacular event, where she connected with families and educators to promote her books and literacy initiatives. Her book is currently available local at Loganberry Books in Shaker, OH, Cuyahoga County Public Library, Walmart.com and more to come.

In addition to her existing works, Shardae is preparing to release new books in 2025, including "Made to Be Different," which explores self-discovery and self-acceptance, and "The Brave Start," a story about overcoming first-day-of-school jitters.

Through her features, public events, and upcoming books, Shardae continues to make strides in ensuring that children see themselves represented in literature while also promoting early education and wellness.
